Blossom & Pond

“The Circle in the Pond”

In a peaceful garden nestled beyond the bustle of the city, there lay a koi pond—a small world all its own. Here, beneath the wide leaves of water lilies and the gentle dappling of sunlight, three koi swam their measured circles. Each koi was beautifully unique: one with vibrant orange spots, another marbled in soft ivory, and the third with delicate golden scales that shimmered like dawn. But beyond their beauty, the koi shared a secret purpose, an unspoken vow to bring serenity and wisdom to each visitor who paused at the pond’s edge.

Children loved to visit, their laughter ringing like wind chimes, their hopes and dreams reflected in the pond’s glassy surface. Their questions were many. “Do koi get lonely?” asked one, twirling a blade of grass between chubby fingers. The eldest koi nudged a lily pad, sending ripples outward. “In this water, we are never alone,” she seemed to say. “Our circles always meet, just as hearts will find each other if they swim with kindness.”

Elders too would gaze, remembering long past days. One old man, coming each morning with a cup of tea, would whisper his worries and sorrows to the fish. The koi listened in silence. Weeks passed, but as spring unfolded, the man’s heart lightened. The koi’s silent wisdom was not in words, but in the calm constancy of their swimming—a reminder that peace is a practice, and beauty is often found in what endures.

One evening, as the sun slipped below the horizon, a poet lingered beside the pond. She watched the koi and listened to the chorus of frogs, the murmur of water, and realized that life, like the pond, was a tapestry of circles—each emotion, memory, and hope gently intersecting with the next. Inspired, she wrote: “Let your days ripple outward in circles of kindness, and may the ponds you create carry you gently onward.”

So it was that the three koi, with nothing but the grace of their swimming, became silent teachers. Each meal or gathering—any moment we pause to share—can echo their message: serenity dwells where we let our hearts flow gently, and true beauty lies in the simple, steady circles that bind us together.
